Clients please be aware of fraud

With today’s internet we have access to literally millions of people, some are genuine and some are not, we at Rent Miraflores, are aware that some criminals regularly use legitimate web sites like ours to defraud unsuspecting clients.

www.rentmiraflores.com is an advertising source used by many people, just like a holiday rental newspaper or magazine. We have little control of who actually advertises on our site

If the content looks real we find it increasingly difficult to establish if they are legitimate or not.

Although we are constantly checking the contents of all properties listed, and although the vast majority of properties listed here will be genuine, we do not, and cannot vouch for every one listed.

Our web site is solely an advertising portal for holiday home owners who wish to advertise their property on the World Wide Web.

In order to protect yourself, and minimize the risk from such fraudsters there are a few simple rules which may help.

  1. Ask plenty of questions about the location of the property for rent, about the area and ask for a description and check it out on Google earth,
  2. Never send money via an instant wire service , like Money gram, or western union
  3. Always use a credit card for payments.
  4. Never make any payments to a third party.
  5. Use the services of Pay pal for secure internet payments.
  6. Make payment via crossed cheque, made payable to the account holder, and posted to the home address of the owner include postcode or zip codes,
  7. Check the address to establish if genuine.
  8. Obtain a land line number and speak to the owner directly, never ring a mobile phone number.
  9. Establish if the owner has a personal web site and check it out.
  10. If you are suspicious in any way , walk away and choose another property,

If you suspect an advertised owner is not genuine please let us know immediately
